WCPO 9 'On Your Side' Blood Donor Day

WCPO has partnered with Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati to host the WCPO 9 ’On Your Side’ Blood Donor Day on Weds., Aug. 4 at five Neighborhood Donor Centers in Greater Cincinnati

WCPO is encouraging viewers to visit Hoxworth Blood Center and make a donation in the station’s name.   “Not only can you save up to three lives with your blood donation, but you can also help a school aged child in the community.  We are asking that all blood donors bring a donation of school supplies for Project Backpack, a school supply drive sponsored by WCPO and Huntington Bank,” reports Alecia Lipton, Hoxworth spokesperson. “Hoxworth Blood Center will match each school supply donation”.

The Honorary Co-Chairs of the Blood Donor Day are veteran WCPO anchor Clyde Gray and seven-year-old Max Meyer who is beating Severe Aplastic Anemia thanks to blood donors and his baby sister Ellee, who provided his bone marrow donation.

“Every day children are among those who depend on the kindness of strangers - blood and bone marrow donors - to give them a chance at life,” said Hoxworth director, Ronald Sacher.  “WCPO and its viewers can help children twice on August 4th by giving blood and donating school supplies.”
