All donors will receive a limited edition Hoxworth Blood Center reusable shopping tote. This tote can serve many purposes from hauling groceries or carrying school supplies, but most importantly it will help save the environment by eliminating plastic bags.

“Hoxworth continues to battle with a critically low inventory of O blood which is the result of heavy hospital usage. We need donors in the tri-state to step forward to meet the demand locally,” said Alecia Lipton, Hoxworth spokesperson. “Please make plans to make a donation on Thursday, Apr 22 – You can celebrate saving a life and saving the earth on Earth Day 2010.”
One Wed., Hoxworth Blood Center announced it has reached the 75,000 milestone in its 12-month campaign to recruit 100,000 blood donors by June 30. However, blood center officials said success is unlikely unless donations at its eight neighborhood donor centers increase significantly.
“Hoxworth must recruit new blood donors, increase donor frequency, and engage new community partners in order to meet growing patient need for blood products.” said Hoxworth director, Dr. Ronald Sacher. “Last year, more than 6,000 blood donors from across the United States were needed to donate blood for Cincinnati-area patients, because not enough blood was donated by local residents.”
How to Donate:
