Winter Storm Stresses Community Blood Supply

Cincinnati has been hit with a winter storm which has canceled high school and business blood drives scheduled for today and tomorrow.  These cancellations have resulted in a collection deficit.  These donors were desperately needed to maintain minimum inventory levels to meet the needs of patients in our 32 hospitals.  To remedy this shortage, Hoxworth Blood Center will open the Mason Neighborhood Donor Center located at 9554 Mason Montgomery Road in Mason and the Anderson Neighborhood Donor Center located at 7715 Five Mile in Cincinnati from 8:30am to 4pm on Friday, January 8th.

In addition to the two replacement blood drives on Friday, Hoxworth will have a mobile blood drive at the Kenton County Public Library on Saturday, Jan. 9th between the hours of 10am and 4pm.  The Hoxworth blood mobile will be in the library parking lot located at 1992 Walton Nicholson Road in Independence, Kentucky.

Hoxworth operates nine neighborhood donor centers in Anderson, Blue Ash, UC Medical Center, Downtown, Ft. Mitchell, Ft. Thomas, Mason, Tri-County and Western Hills. In times of shortages, walk-ins are always welcome or you can schedule an appointment by calling (513) 451-0910.
