Donors at the Karmen Hartman Blood Drive
On November 1, 2007, 53 blood donors showed their support for three-year-old Karmen Hartman at the Furniture Fair blood drive in Fairfield. Karmen has recently been diagnosed with leukemia and needs extensive blood transfusions as part of her treatment at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She is the granddaughter of Ed Hartman, the marketing director of Furniture Fair. If you did not get to donate at the Furniture Fair blood drive, Hoxworth will be taking donations in Karmen's name at any donor center or blood drive. Please mention "Karmen Hartman" or code "981" when donating. Hoxworth will track all donations and will let her family know just how many people gave "the gift of life" in honor of Karmen. Family and friends have organized this blood drive to make it convenient for people to donate blood in honor of Karmen and the hundreds of other area patients who are in need of blood transfusions. 
Donating blood and is safe and easy, and is a great way to give back to your community. Each donation takes about one hour and could save up to three lives. The requirements to give blood are: •Age: At least 17 years old and in good general health. There is no upper age limit. •Weight: Minimum of 110 pounds. •Identification: Must provide photo I.D. •Food: Eat a good meal within four hours before giving. •Drink: Drink plenty of water or juice before and after donating.
