2008 Hoxworth High School Awards Banquet

On Thursday, May 8, 2008 Hoxworth Blood Center hosted their annual High School Awards Banquet at the Madison Event Center in Covington, Kentucky. This event recognized the outstanding support area high schools gave to Hoxworth's Community Blood Program.

During the 2007-08 school year, 104 high schools in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana conducted a total of 183 blood drives. Hoxworth is extremely grateful to these high school students because their 10,074 individual donations account for just over 11% of  Hoxworth's annual collections.

TOP SCHOOLS IN 2008:

Hoxworth Blood Center honored both large (Class I) and small (Class II) high schools by recognizing the efforts of the top four performers in each classification.

Tom Roebel Award of Excellence:

The Tom Roebel Award of Excellence is named in honor of the former Roger Bacon High School teacher and blood drive coordinator, whose commitment to the success of his high school blood drives exemplified the spirit of community service.  His legacy lives on through the honoring of a high school who demonstrated equal commitment to their own blood drives.  This year the award was given to:

Conner High School

Six high school seniors were awarded individual Hoxworth high school scholarships.

In addition, Hoxworth presented the Malcolm P. Adcock Memorial Scholarship which honors Cincinnati’s former Commissioner of Health.
