On Thursday, May 8, 2008 Hoxworth Blood Center hosted their annual High School Awards Banquet at the Madison Event Center in Covington, Kentucky. This event recognizes the outstanding support area high schools give to Hoxworth's Community Blood Program.

During the 2007-08 school year, 104 high schools in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana conducted a total of 183 blood drives. Hoxworth is extremely grateful to these high school students because their 10,074 individual donations account for just over 11% of  Hoxworth's annual collections.

The top high schools were honored in two categories for small and large schools. Six high school seniors were awarded individual  Hoxworth scholarships. In addition, Hoxworth presented  the  Malcolm P. Adcock Memorial Scholarship which honors Cincinnati’s former Commissioner of Health.

A special certificate of recognition was presented to brothers, Anthony, Andrew and Joey Hetzer. The Hetzers were honored for coordinating the Elder High School Blood Drive from 2004 - 2008.

Hoxworth Blood Center would like to extend a special thank you to Newport Central Catholic High School's drama club for their performance of selections from Beauty and the Beast. A great time was had by all!
