Volunteer Opportunities @ Hoxworth
Updated: June 2007

Volunteering your time at Hoxworth is a great way to meet new friends while providing a service to our community.

Hoxworth is currently recruiting energetic people to volunteer at community blood drives and at Hoxworth's nine blood donation centers.

Whether you're a high school or college student, a recent retiree, or a former blood donor who can no longer give blood but still wants to help...we have a need for you!

Here are some of the ways you can help:

Blood drive hosts
- Volunteers are needed for various donor-related tasks, including greeting blood donors, helping them with registration paperwork, discussing different types of donation options and assisting them though the entire blood donation process.

Our blood drive hosts serve as liaisons between donors and Hoxworth, and can really help show our appreciation and encourage donors to make blood donation a life long habit.

Other duties of hosts could include serving juice and cookies to donors after their donation.

Hosts can work in Hoxworth's nine neighborhood donor centers and on mobile drives. Mobile drives are held inside companies, schools, churches, etc.

Couriers - Volunteer drivers pick up blood collections from neighborhood donor centers and mobile drives and also deliver blood to area hospitals.

Clerical Support - Volunteers assist various offices of the blood center. The clerical work may include any of the following: assisting with bulk mailings; updating databases in the computer; filing; and sewing.
