700 Donors at the 2007 Bengals Blood Drive

The final tally was a record-breaking 700 donors for the sixth annual Bengals/Hoxworth Community Blood Drive, presented by Champion Windows and LOCAL12 WKRC-TV on October 3, 2007. The site was Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati.

"For the third year in a row, Bengals fans and blood donors have set a new record for the largest blood drive in Greater Cincinnati," said Michael Anderson, spokesperson for the Hoxworth Blood Center. "This event continues to grow, and is of immense benefit to the community. We thank Coach Marvin Lewis, player spokesman Caleb Miller and the entire Bengals organization for their continued support."

The 2007 total passed by the prior Greater Cincinnati record of 528 donors set at last year’s Bengals blood drive.

“Every blood donor is a hero, because we all know there is no substitute for this resource, and no other way to obtain it,” said Lewis. “We congratulate everyone who stepped up, and we urge others to consider making a donation in the near future.”

A special thanks to Bengals coaches Marvin Lewis, Ricky Hunley, Kevin Coyle and Eric Ball... and players Caleb Miller, Rudi Johnson, Reggie Kelly, Dan Coats, Eric Ghiaciuc, Kyle Larson, Domata Peko, Frostee Rucker and Brad St. Lewis, who greeted donors at the drive.

Also at this year’s event, 140 donors signed up for the national bone marrow registry, including Coach Lewis and All-Pro running back Rudi Johnson.
